Election Aftermath: What does it mean for the next two years? Issue 1, the Pro-Life Movement

Since we now know that the Senate has changed hands, the whole Congress is going to be Democrat controlled.   Maybe we will see some veto's from President Bush for a change, that is long overdue.  I wish he had used the veto more then that one time.   Maybe we wouldn't be in this mess we are in.

Progress on a lot of fronts will be slowed or stopped for the next two years.  The pro-life movement will suffer from a "pro-choice" Congress.   Do you think since Bob Casey from Pennsylvania is pro-life,  will the leadership of the Democrats let him do anything about it?  Not a chance!  His pro-life votes will be isolated and marginalized like his late father.  I can't figure out why he allowed himself to be used by the Democrats, after what they did to his dad.

What happens when a opening comes on the Supreme Court?  It will be a huge battle no matter whom the President puts up.  Good luck getting a great Conservative.   What if John Paul Stevens leaves the court (he is in his 80's)?  He is the most liberal member of the court.  We will not be able to get a conservative to replace him,  and end up with someone like former Judge Sandra Day O'Connor. We could end up with no progress on the Supreme Court during the Bush presidency.   We have only replaced one conservative with another, and gotten rid of a unreliable "moderate".   We cannot waste more time by replacing a liberal with a "moderate".   Since "moderates" seem to vote with liberals on important issues like abortion,  they may as well be called liberals.

The Supreme Court is the biggest roadblock to ending the horrid practice of abortion.   It has killed millions over the almost forty years (imagine had the Nazis lasted that long, its just as bad).  Pro-Life laws can be passed,  elections won (by big margins to boot) and it takes only 5 black robed liberal dimwits to put good stuff into dry-dock forever.  It is frightening that a few think that they know better then the rest of us.  Plus the check and balances of government are being destroyed by these people.

This is probably the worst part of a Democrat Congress.  I will write about other issues later.

Don't you just love the media!

Doesn't it just get you when the media calls Nancy Pelosi "speaker" already.   She isn't the speaker yet and doesn't become speaker until January 2007.  Don't call her speaker until she is,  you babbling media talking heads!  They would never call an incoming Republican speaker until he actually is.

Election Aftermath: Time to Change the Public Discourse

Well, that was disappointing!    The Democrats can thank their friends at the  "mainstream" media for the victory.   The Republicans managed to hold the media off in 2004,  but couldn't do it this time after two nasty years of griping by the talking heads.  The liberal leftists will of course take all the credit for the win though.   They think they have a mandate for change that nobody really wants.

Hopefully the Republicans will keep the Senate.  It looks like they will.   We will see how bad of a job the Democrats will do in the house,  and the Republicans will get it back in 2008.  On the plus side they don't have a "plan" that will get anywhere, so it will be only the time of two years wasted.   On the downside,  say goodbye to the tax cuts.  Why didn't they make them permanent at the beginning?

It is bad for this country how the "mainstream"  media influences elections.  The "reporting" looks like the Democrats press releases.  You could see the glee of the talking heads when their predictions were "right" for once.  Of course they use the same predictions everytime,  so they were bound to get lucky once.

It shows how little has changed in the wording of issues in public discourse.  After more then a decade of Republican congressional control the media still steers the public opinion and direction of issues.   The Democrats still have the upperhand on this one.   They have done a great job of misleading voters with carefully worded press releases and wording said by politicians.

Republicans need to change the wording in public discourse.  It will be difficult because the media will not go along with it.  There has been some progress like calling the inheritance tax the death tax.    Many times the Republican side of the issue is seen in the negative light.  That needs to end.   Even in abortion where few would disagree that the Republican have the moral upper hand, manages to be seen negatively at times.   Though the term  "partial birth abortion"  has been slowly starting to work better, so it can be done.   It puts the issues in a Republican light instead of Democratic one and that is key to stopping the media.

My response to The Secular Conservative

I was reading The Secular Conservative blog entry a minute or so ago and I needed to respond to his or her post.

I would like to know why Christians must leave their beliefs at the door of public life.   Nobody else does,  nor are they asked to do so.  None of the reasons that the writer are new to me.   They are the same old tired things Christian hear each day at school, work, and many other places as well.   I think that non-Christians don't seem to know or ignore that Christians cannot do so.   Christianity cannot be boxed up and used only on Sunday at church,  and it would be wrong to do so.   Many Christians feel alienated by public service today because their beliefs are not given their due.    They cannot give their true opinion on problems of society because it includes things that come with Christian faith.  I think it does a great disservice to everyone involved.

I also disagree that being Christian only brings emotion to the table.  That logic is only for those with no faith is also incorrect.   Some of most emotional people that I know are people with no faith,  it common because logic doesn't fill all needs.   Christians know of real life and its consequences, they serve on the "frontlines" all around the world.  Its those that don't think of the consequences are the ones making more problems in the world.  That probably why you are conservative today, because liberals are the ones using knee-jerk "solutions" to problems without thinking of the consequences.

I do know that many conservative are not Christians.  A person doesn't have to be a Christian to be a conservative.  I hope you feel welcome in the conservative movement, but you will have to make sure that Christians are too.  Many conservative are people of faith,  and that faith will not be left behind, and it will influence the movement.  Christians feel uncomfortable at many times, so you are not the only one thats uncomfortable.  Its life, people have different opinions and others don't like and feel uncomfortable because of it.  It a liberal lie that everyone needs to be comfortable all the time, its imposable to do. The conservative "tent" is much larger then the liberal one today.  Thats why many Christian people are there today because the liberal one rejects Christianity in all its forms.   Sure there are Christian Democrats but the number gets smaller as time goes on.

Many Christians are for many of the "other" conservative ideas like smaller government etc.  Yes, abortion is the top issue for many Christians but that because it is a very important issue to this nation.

What you are asking for cannot be,  that's why the public square is vacant of any ideals today.  Its because Christians have been evicted from the public discourse of life.   Christians have been part of everything good that has happened to this country.  From the ending of slavery, the civil rights movement, the free enterprise system and the freedom of religion just to note a few.  Even the idea of tolerance is a Christian idea, although not in the form that many think it is today.   If it wasn't for the Christians these things would have been even thought off let alone done.

Backlash Against Republicans: Give me a break!

The media would like you to believe that this election is the coming end of the Republican majority.   The people voting are going to stick it to Republicans for being corrupt.  All these little scandals are a big turnoff for voters.  Give me a break!

If that was true,  there would be very few Democrats in office.   If there is a party with widespread corruption it is the Democrats!  This is not a election that is going to end corruption,  far from it!

If there is backlash against someone,  it is likely to be politics and politicians in general.   If there was a survey of just politics, I think the Democrats would find they were just as unpopular as Republicans.   People aren't just tired of Republicans,  they are tired of the nonsense that political hacks from all parties contiue to spread around.

Also the media would find itself on the receiving end of the backlash.   They are just as guilty of spreading around the political muck as anyone.   The  "reporting"  is terrible and getting worse.   The media is guilty of trying to influence the election, so far they haven't been very successful in that.   But they keep on trying which is bad.

Bottom line folks.   This election isn't going to change much no matter what the media and the Democrats say.

John Kerry: Can't get anything right!

John Kerry: political fool, lousy comedian, crummy apologizer.  Can't get anything right,  can he?    He is the Homer Simpson of Senators.  How does someone so dumb get so far in life?    Boogles the mind sometimes!

Kerry and the Elite Media

The media has always made President Bush look like some idiotic dumb person.   Then at the same time making Kerry look like a smart college professor or something.   Then it was discovered that Bush's grade point average was actually higher then Kerry's.  Since they both went to the same university they couldn't spin it that Kerry went to a better school or something like that.  (Image the bad press they would have given Bush had he gone to a school like Liberty University, which is too bad since Liberty is rapidly becoming a top notch school.)

I love it when the truth comes out.  It makes Democrats look very bad no matter what their buddies at the "mainstream" media do to make it look good.  Kerry is a vile person,  I am happy that this moron didn't become president.

Things are rarely how they appear.   For a brief moment we saw the real John Kerry.  And it is frightening.   We have to many of his ilk "running" the country.   It fun to make fun of someone like Kerry but the nation cannot afford to have too many of him around.

John Kerry: Open Mouth, Insert Foot

Today's Open Mouth, Insert Foot is a easy one.   John Kerry is the "winner" today.  Its hard to believe that John Kerry actually served in the military.   I guess he only served because he had too.   If he was a college student today he would be trying to keep the ROTC off campus (although universities themselves have been doing a "great" job keeping the military off campus).  Aren't you glad that today's military are volunteers?

Well he managed to slam the military again in a press conference Monday.   Course now since he is getting heat for it was a "joke".    Some joke....

IMHO it is no different then the disrespect that the returning vets from Vietnam had to put up with.  Expect now they lie about it.  One face they say they support the troops but the other face is the one the vets see.  The one that hates the military and the ones who choose to serve.

It was no joke.   Thats what Kerry thinks of the military.  A place for dumb and poor people.   The irony of it all is, the many military people that use the perk of college tuition that is provided.  By the military.

A Statue of Fidel Castro in NYC! How nutty can they be?

I didn't believe this when I read it.  Read it at Newsmax here.  In Humberto Fontova's article today, he wrote about New York City plan to put up a statue in Central Park.   A statue of Dictator Fidel Castro!   What are people thinking?  How about a memorial to his many victims instead!

I hope people's outrage will stop this idiotic plan!

That Election Thing Next Month

Boy, if you only went to the "Mainstream Media" for your news, you would think that the Republican Party was in ruins!  The tales of disaster are the leading stories on the evening tv news.   How several Republican congressman and senators in "safe" districts are now in danger of losing their seats. They are drooling over the upcoming Democrat congress.

Only thing though!  It ain't going to happen! It will be a tight race (again) but the Republicans will keep control of Congress.  As the President said,  don't be measuring for the drapes just yet!

Once again the media is dead wrong on this election.  They were wrong on election day in 2004 (Kerry "winning" all day, please!!!!!!!give me a break), and they will be wrong in 2006.  If you are a Republican thinking of staying home next month,  don't,  prove them wrong again.

Michael J. Fox: Open Mouth, Insert Foot

Michael J. Fox is today's Open Mouth, Insert Foot "winner".   If you don't know who that is, he is the actor who played Alex P. Keaton on Family Ties.  Ironically his character was the Republican son of a die-hard liberal.  He later played a part in a more recent show that I can't remember the name, where he was the vice mayor of NYC or something like that.

He suffers from Parkinson's Disease.   I feel sorry for him since there is no cure, and little hope for one anytime soon.  My late grandfather had it for the last few years of his life.  It is not an easy way to live.   Fox believes that embryonic stem cell research will bring a cure for Parkinson's.

Unfortunately for Fox he has bought into the liberal "theory" that embryonic stem cell research will bring cures to every disease under the sun.  Contrarily to adult stem cell research which has brought some advances in medicine and show promise for more.  Embryonic stem cell research has brought no advances to medicine and doesn't show much promise even though more public money has been spent on it.

Fox was in the Chicago area today to
campaign for Democrat Tammy Duckworth who is running for congress in Illinois.  I really didn't hear what he said there, but he wins the "award" today anyway for speaking about something he is misinformed about.   Since research is mostly going along these embryonic cell thing,  I wonder how long until the real cure will be found.   Most likely too late for Michael Fox.

Barack Obama and Marvin Scott

Even though I no longer live in Illinois,  I still follow Illinois politics.  It hard not too, here in Northwest Indiana.   We don't have our own tv stations (outside a low power PBS channel) or very many radio stations.  We do have two decent local newspapers but Illinois politics still overshadow everything.

Over the last few years Barack Obama has come out of nowhere.   The lovefest between him and the local media is often very sickening.   They think he the best thing since sliced bread.  When he ran for the U.S. Senate in 2004 he got so much great free press.  Sure he is a smart, good looking, articulate kind of guy.   I am sure he is a nice guy to boot but jeezz-whiz.

What always got me in that election the press was making him out as the only African-American guy running for the U.S. Senate.   Of course that got knocked down a bit when Alan Keyes came into the race.   But that wasn't the point.   There was another African-American running for a Senate seat that year.

In Indiana,  Marvin Scott ran against Evan Bayh for the Senate seat that Bayh has held on too for far too long.   I doubt you ever heard about Marvin Scott from the press.   Why?   Because Scott is a Republican.   Scott is smart,  good looking (he is older then Obama) and very articulate as well.   I know for a fact that Scott is a nice guy because my folks met him once.  They thought he was great.

Why didn't this guy get as much press as Obama.   Well, I guess most of you know the reason why.   He just didn't exist when it came to coverage.   Thats why a guy like Evan Bayh can win (and rewin) a senate seat in Indiana.   Indiana is as red a state can be.  Bayh has nothing in common with the voters of Indiana.   Thank you very much Mainstream Media for being "fair and balanced".   What a joke that is today's news organizations.

UN Appoints New Secretary-General

The UN has appointed a new Secretary-General to replace outgoing Kofi Annon.  He is Ban Ki-Moon from South Korea.  He is the current foreign minster of South Korea.  Read about it here.  France has congratulated him on his appointment so he probably isn't much of an improvement over Annon.   Not that I was expecting much.
