Why Are People Surprised That B.O. Does Liberal Things? Colin Powell Now Questioning Huge Spending.

I really don't know why people,  that should know better, are surprised at what B.O. is doing.    Even though the "mainstream" media tried its best to cover the truth about Obama,  the real plan was clear and out there to be seen.

After rejecting the kind of presidential candidate ("moderate" McCain) that he thinks Republicans should be running for president every time.     Colin Powell is now questioning the spending of the Obama Administration

Duh,  what did he think Obama was going to do?

Are people's heads that deep in the sand to ignore the clear facts.   Facts even B.O. wouldn't even deny.   Everybody should have known that Obama was going to push liberal programs.   Why?   Because even B.O.  said he would!     Did the snow job by the media fool that many into thinking that B.O. was some moderate or even a little conservative?

There was no question that Obama is a liberal,  and a very far left liberal at that.

Why anyone would think he would moderate his position in office is crazy.   Out of anyone who doesn't have to moderate its Obama.   He can get away with just about anything now.    He has no reason to moderate yet.    Nor does it look like he will have to anytime soon.

Colin Powell will someday regret endorsing Obama over McCain.    McCain is the type of candidate that many outside the Republican Party think they should be running.    The kind of candidate the party shouldn't be running.

The conservative majority had no major candidate to vote for in 2008.    Combined with a energetic liberal candidate, it was a recipe for disaster.   A moderate that excited no one cannot win.   So now we are stuck with the most liberal president who thinks he has a huge mandate for change.   Change that doesn't have a chance of working and is opposed by most Americans.   Including many that voted for Obama!

I am glad he is criticizing the person he voted for.   We need as many people as we can telling Obama no.     But he should have known that what was going to happen with a President Obama.

Al Franken Successful At Stealing Election in Minnesota

Norm Coleman finally gave up on trying to reclaim his Senate seat today.    The courts ruled again him and the voters of Minnesota. Chicago Tribune story here.

Franken will undoubtedly be one of the worst Senators  that  Washington will ever see.   He is a small, unfunny fool.   Hopefully voters will be able to remove him next time.   Unfortunately not electing him the first time doesn't make that easy.     At least Coleman kept him out of office for almost a half year.

Not good news for anybody.

Cheney: Hopes U.S. Sacrifice Doesn't Go To Waste

Former Vice President Cheney today remarked that he hoped that U.S. sacrifice doesn't go to "waste".

Read about it here.

The media will likely mess up with what he is saying once again.    Like the recent,  "I am surprised we haven't been hit hard again".  Only the "mainstream media" would mess something like that.    I guess we will see what they say about that.

It's interesting that the media has been putting more into covering Cheney lately.   It just shows the bias they have against him.

We Really Traded Down In The Vice President Department: Biden Nowhere Near As Good As Cheney

Good article on the current and former vice-presidents.    I have always thought that Biden would never come close to filling Cheney's shoes.     So far I am correct.   Biden is a endless talker (and not a good one at that) when Cheney was a doer.    Biden is kind of useless,  even to B.O.

Someday we will miss Cheney,  cause when the spam hits the fan,  Biden will be nowhere.      We won't know yet (and won't for a long time) what Cheney did while in office, that will someday change for the better his reputation.    What most  of the media think of him today is dead wrong.

History will see  Cheney as one of the best vice presidents.   Biden will go down as a typical mostly pointless vice president.   Unfortunately most are like Biden, just a idiot politican.

Chicago Taxpayers Get Hosed Again: Will Cover Olympics Losses

Today Mayor Daley signed the standard contract that covers the hosting of the Olympic Games.    He hopes that Chicago will host the 2016 games.

So,,,,, so what.    Chicago hasn't won the games yet.   Yeah, it hasn't,,,, yet.

Most hosting cities and governments outside the U.S. offer funding guarantees that will cover financial losses.   In spite of all the boosters that the games bring in money,  they really don't.    Most host cities end up eating the losses,  or I should say taxpayers do since it was once taxpayers money.

In the U.S. the taxpayer traditionally didn't cover the losses,  private funds were raised to cover the losses.    So the local and federal taxpayers didn't have to cover the costs.   A good solution to an unnecessary problem,  to be honest, it should be done like that worldwide.  Of course games that don't lose so much money would be better but thats not going to happen either.  Why should the taxpayer be on the hook for this too?

On a side-note.  U.S.  Olympic teams are still funded privately.  Most countries fund their teams publicly,  in fact,  I think only the U.S. doesn't offer public money.    That's why some countries don't send very many athletes, the public money can be quite limited.    How much longer the U.S. can hold out with private money,  I don't know.    I can see B.O. wanting the public money for this too.

Daley signed the standard contract,  he wouldn't hold out for a amended contract that didn't require public money.    A bad move,  the taxpayer could really get soaked.    Chicago taxes have been flying out of control lately so the taxpayer sure doesn't need this nonsense too.

Just because the rest of the world wants to run the games stupidly doesn't mean we need to go along with it.   I haven't been real crazy about having the games and this only makes that worse.    Of course it will put the politics of Chicago on full view to the world even more then the election of B.O.    Thats not so good either.

Court System Out Of Control: South Carolina Governor Under COURT ORDER To Take Unwanted "Stimulus" Cash

South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford did what no other governor did when he rejected "stimulus" cash from the federal government.     However South Carolina will now take the cash.   Because the court ordered Governor Sanford to do so.

So who is in control?   The governor elected by the people or the unelected court?   Looks like it is the court.

Freedom is being lost by our own court system!

South Carolina has every right to pass on the cash (and the strings that come attached) but a few people wearing black robes once again stop the will of the people.

Judge Sotomayor: Why Does B.O. Make Bad Choices Almost Every Time?

Well I knew I wouldn't like ANY choice B.O. would make for the Supreme Court.    I knew it would happen, and it did.    Sotomayor is a choice only the worst liberal politicians would make.   Selecting a radical activist  is the results of the worst of gaming of politics.

The first Hispanic woman nominated  for the highest court would be a poor choice for the supreme court.

If we were the color blind society that liberals say we should be, why were they only talking about  liberal minority candidates?   Your race or sex should never be a qualifying consideration for a job.   The private sector would get sued into the stone ages if it did (not that it doesn't but the victims aren't victims in the liberal  world).   Do you think any conservative white males were considered.   Highly unlikely.   If anything, if they came up,  a joke was made,  and they moved on.

This is a politically correct choice nothing else.

It will lead to more discrimination,  that liberals claim they are ending by a choice like Sotomayor.   Judges aren't supposed to be activists but Sotomayor is.    They shouldn't set policy but even she says they do.

Will she be seated.   Yes she will,  but conservatives shouldn't  just lay back and take it.     The Democrats did everything to try to end the nominations of Bush's choices.    Republicans  should expose her liberal record.    They should vote against her as well.

Yet another bad choice by B.O.

Obama at Notre Dame: Do Christian and Catholic Schools Lose Their Identity Over Time?

Some thoughts on this Obama at Notre Dame University thing.  I'm not Catholic, but a Protestant that knows quite a bit about  Catholicism.     This mess  may be more about how this university is run more then the circus that comes with B.O.    The current trustees seem to have endorsed Obama coming to the graduation.   Many are from Chicago and or at least run in the same circles as the Obama's (as in left wing elite world).

I would guess that all of these trustees aren't Catholic, or at least practicing Catholics. Its likely that choosing "outsiders" is the reason for the lack of Catholic identity at Notre Dame and other big Catholic universities nowadays. The idea of the powerful and elite running your school may seem like a good idea, but it leads to problems like this. They think little of Christian and Catholic ideas, and push hard at kicking them to the curb.   Their vision is one just like a secular university where Christian voices are minimized.

Notre Dame may be better off with less "well known" (maybe known to the Catholic community) trustees that are practicing Catholics,  then these well known people who aren't Catholic. If you aren't part of a community you aren't as likely to be committed to its core values.   Or in some cases down right hostile to them.

However its not likely anymore since the current trustees aren't going to vote themselves out.    I guess the religious  order that owns the school will have to retake control of it somehow,  likely using the court system to unseat the current trustees, so not a good choice either.   It may be to the point where it isn't possible to regain control anymore.

Like the universities now known as the  "ivy league schools",  when the churches that founded them lost control of them.  Most don't know that various Christian denominations once ran those now very anti-Christian like schools.

If someone wants a Catholic education today,  a large "Catholic" university may not be that place anymore.    It seems that you would have to go to a smaller or newer Catholic school to get that education today.  Notre Dame really isn't a "Catholic" school anymore just like a "Ivy League" education isn't a Protestant Christian one anymore.

It seems that  most universities creep left over time.   That's likely why most schools have that nasty left wing bent nowadays.    I guess part of that problem would be solved by not allowing these people to take over.

A few years ago,  my brother graduated from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan.   The school is owned and operated by the Christian Reformed Church and is a mostly Christian school.   His graduation speaker turned out to be President Bush.   The few left wing types at Calvin were horrified,  and tried to stop Bush from coming.    However  between Bush at Calvin vs.  Obama at Notre Dame is not the same like many would think.   Bush was compatible with the beliefs of the founders of Calvin unlike Obama who isn't compatible with the founders of Notre Dame.

The idea of showing both sides of a issues of life is nonsense.   Notre Dame (or Calvin) has no responsibility to show the other side of an issue.     Its not likely that secular university would show the pro-life side of an issue so why should a school promote something that most of its founders would find incompatible with the core values of the school?   The other side promotes itself just fine,  it doesn't need the support of the Christian school to show its ideas.

Calvin has been slowly moving to the left as well over the last couple of decades, like the rest of the CRC demomination as a whole.  At one time you had to be a CRC member to work or be on the board at Calvin.   Its been opened up a little to other denominations (which in itself not a bad thing) but will there be the day when non-Christians are on the board and teaching (not that there aren't professors that lean left already) at Calvin?   If that happens will it follow the road of the ivy leagues and Notre Dame in losing its original identity?  Or are we doomed to continue to have to create new schools to replace the ones that lost the way?

Time will tell.

Biden and his Big Mouth: Giving Away the Secret Location of the VP Bunker

Back in the dark days of World War Two, there was the saying.  "Loose lips sinks ships".  That saying was on posters even.  If you worked in the military or an industry producing war material,  you were told not to talk about it too much.    They didn't want  enemy agents  learning secrets  from listening  to casual talk.

I guess VP Biden never heard of this saying, or doesn't get its meaning.  Because its true even today.  Biden really stepped in it this time.    He's well known for saying dumb things,  but giving away the location of the vice-presidential Bunker is truly stupid.   Yes, the "secret" location that former V.P. Cheney went to on 9/11.

The location they would have stuck him should something happen during the next four years.   Now taxpayers will be stuck building a new secret location for the VP,  not that Biden is going to be of any value during a problem.   This war is far from over.

Thats why the nation is far less safe then it was during Bush-Cheney.    There is no doubt in my mind that Biden will never be near as good as Cheney when it comes to national defense.  Biden is doing nothing to protect the nation from our enemies.  Just because liberals don't think there is a war on Islamic terror,  doesn't mean there isn't one.   They are fighting us daily, but  the current administration has returned to the Clinton era "its a law enforcement issue"  putting its head in the sand once again.    How anyone could think that after 9/11,  but here we are!

It will cost us!

Biden may have committed a crime by revealing the location.   He will never be charged of course,  but B.O.  needs to cork his big mouth.  NOW!

History will see former V.P. Cheney in a much better light then today.    He will be seen as one of the best  V.P.  yet.   Biden will go down as the dimwitted clown he is.

Local City Wants To Become "Sanctuary" City: Do ANY Elected Officials Do The Will of the People?

Calumet City,  Illinois is joining the ranks of cities that don't care about its crime rate.   Its already well known for its high crime rate,  it has dogged this city for decades.   Of course when the city fathers don't do much to stop crime and even join in on it,  the crime isn't going away on its own.

It plans on prohibiting its own police department from helping enforce immigration laws.    Its joining the ranks of dumb and misguided cities that think it is doing the "right" thing by ignoring federal immigration laws.    It will add rules that would penalize  Calumet City Police from helping Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Ugh,,,,,,aren't  local police are the first line of Immigration enforcement?   That puts the police department in a place it should never be put.   Not allowed to follow the law of the federal government due to a local ordinance.

It will only attract the criminal element to Calumet City.    This always happens.   Nobody will notice this until some illegal commits some horrible crime.

Now I usually favor local control,  but in this case they are doing the wrong thing.   This will bite them in the butt.

It is illegal to order your police department to ignore laws.   Even ones you don't like.

Watching the American Auto Industry Go Bye Bye, Part 1

Well,  we are on day two of get rid of the auto dealers.   Yesterday we saw which Chrysler dealers were dead ducks.  Today GM enters the bloodbath.

Yeah,  plenty of these dealers got to go.   I have been saying in past posts that many have to go.   But I have been wondering what criteria they are using to pull the rug out from these dealers.  At least with the dealers that will no longer be selling Chrysler vehicles here in Northwest Indiana and the south suburbs of Chicago.

At least one of the places closing is one of the two  shops of the local sleaze-bag dealer.    I figured since he was high volume he wouldn't be touched.    Of course he keeps one of his stores,  but he lost one.     So at least one bad place will be gone.    But most of the rest have me wondering.   Some are the big dealers around here,  or at least I thought they were.

Of course the media makes it sound far worse then it is.  All these jobs will be lost,  oh my!     Many dealers sell other brands so they will remain as new car dealers.    They have already lost most of the jobs associated with selling and servicing Chrysler or GM vehicles.    Many other dealers will live on as used car dealers and auto services,  which by the way is far more profitable for most dealers then selling new vehicles!

So the job losses will be less then they think.   Not discounting the people that will lose their jobs,  but most dealers will find a way to stay in the auto business.  Most love the business of selling and servicing cars.

But Its the auto makers themselves are the ones that don't seem to want to stay in business.    Now that B.O.  is calling the shots,  the mismanagement will live on dooming the companies, I am really starting to think.   Inviting government to "solve" its problems won't do anything to save the American auto industry.

Liberals like B.O. really don' t like cars to begin with.  They think everyone will be so happy waiting around for and riding buses and trains. Never mind that less then 1% of us do so on a regular basis.    They don't like money,  or at least the profits part of it anyway.    So B.O.'s  "restructuring" of the American auto industry will probably not include how the industry will make money again.   Which sort of makes the rest sort of pointless.  They will order the auto industry to build small and "green"  cars of dubious quality.   (Note to B.O. and company,  American don't like little cars even when gas is expensive).   Which means continued  huge losses.   And nationalization of the leftovers of the business.  Think of all the lousy cars of the late 1970's and early 1980's because thats what the government will be building at huge expense.

So what is the main problem of the auto industry?

Its money!

The government is that relative that has no idea about money and you just put him in charge of it!

Until that issue is fixed,  the auto industry will be a money pit for the taxpayer.   Green cars WILL NOT SAVE THE AUTO INDUSTRY!  Government bailouts will not save the auto business.   Giving stock to the unions will not save the auto business.    Its time to act like real business people and run it like a business not a government agency.    Why are we letting morons run the economy?

Republicans and the "Big Tent"

There has been tons of articles on why the Republican party lost the 2008 election.  Of course most of the ideas put forth are  dead wrong,  its laughable.    Unfortunately those ideas are frequently brought to you by the "mainstream" media,  so they get lots of play.    Republican party officials need to NOT listen to these voices anymore,  it has gotten them to the point they are at today.

They say Republicans should be more like Democrats,  which is nonsense, since Republicans have been more like Democrats in recent years.   That can't work and  won't work and hasn't worked.   Democrats have been winning because they are the only other show in town,  not because they got popular or something.    They remain in the basement when it comes to voter approval too.  There just isn't anything else to vote for!

There is talk of the big tent (of ideas).   They talk of the Reagan years,  which many of us now remember more fondly these days.    How Reagan made the Republican party the big party tent.   There is truth to that,  he got many people who had never voted Republican before to vote for him and for lower level Republican candidates as well.   It had helped that Democrats were moving left at a scary rate those days turning many off to them.    The economy was bad due to their bad economic policies.   So more people in unions,  or blue collar work, or the middle class voted Republican.   Reagan was the perfect candidate for his time.   He got people who would have never voted for a  Republican to do so.

In his column today Pat Buchanan (please note: I don't agree with Pat very often, so don't blow me off as yet another Buchanan fluky) he brought up some good points I would like to to discuss a little.    How that few minorities vote Republican nowadays.  George Bush did much better with these voters then John McCain, though McCain was often seen as the more "moderate" person.   How can that be?   If conventional thinking is correct,  more minorities should have voted for McCain then Bush.    But they didn't!

Granted Bush didn't run against Obama (though you wouldn't know that at times during the election).    But Bush is still more conservative then McCain.   Many commentators  believe that Republicans lost because the Republicans moved right.    It hasn't,  there is no evidence of that, but may look like it has because the Democrats have shifted even more to the  left.   If anything the Republicans moved somewhat more left as well with the social programming and the large increasing in spending.    It may been have lost because now the Republicans have moved too far left.   Who really knows for sure.

Surveys show that the majority of American's see themselves as conservatives.   Many don't seem to vote conservative or at least Republican though.    So conservatives are far more then white people who live out in the country, who go to church and watch NASCAR.    There are minority conservatives out there maybe even a majority of these groups as well.

That's one of the ironies of Obama and the Democrat party in general.   If minorities were not so quick to just pull the lever for the Democrats. If more would look at where the candidates and the parties stood, they probably wouldn't have voted for Obama in the huge numbers that did.  Why does it look like they don't look at the issues?   The Democrats don't even seem to do anything to even keep them in the party anymore not that they ever did.

If prop 8 in California  does nothing else, it shows that most minorities are at least socially conservative.   And they would vote that way on an issue,  when they can, with no candidate or party seemly involved.   Minority voters voted yes for prop 8 in high numbers in fact a majority.  But they don't vote Republican.    Are social and societal problem not as much of a issue as economics?     I  highly doubt it.    Why isn't abortion a bigger issue in the black protestant church?   Abortion hurts the African American community far worse then the overall population.    A large part of the hispanic community is Roman Catholic so why don't they vote in bigger number for Republicans either?

So the question is, what needs to happen to remove the distaste of voting Republican?     Has the mainstream media convinced these communities that Republicans bad, Democrats good, even though if issues are compared, that they agree with the Republican position more.   The message is just not working at all.   How could it work to bring those conservatives to the Republican party and make it seem like home?    Voting for liberal Democrats hasn't gotten these communities anything but heartache.    But they keep voting for it.

People forget that with the African-Americans community,  they voted majority Republican from the Civil War until the 1930's.    They moved to the Democrats largely because of the economy of the Depression years.    I don't know how people overlooked that the Democrats were the party that was preventing blacks from even voting from the post Civil War years all the way to the 1960's.   But people don't want to learn from history do they?

I think that economic policy keeps minorities in the Democratic Party today.   The conservative message doesn't seem to get though on economics,  so many think they are economic liberals.    When they may not be, if they had all the facts.     The Republican policy is sound but the message gets lost in the nonsense.   The problem may be marketing not policy.    The Democrat sow fear in people when it comes to economics,  it works well on working class whites too.

Back to Reagan again.   He proves that people can be brought to the Republican party.    However we need to get the party to the point where you don't have to have an one individual to shoulder the task of bringing those voters to the table.    The Republicans need marketing help,  sticking with conservative values to win big again.     Moving away from that hurts the GOP as well.    The party has scored its biggest successes with conservatives ideas in the 1980's and 90's.  It can do so again.

I truly believe in the big tent theory.   The Democrats don't have the big tent anymore,  they are more closed to good ideas then ever.    However I think that the largest group in the big tent will always be the conservatives so if you got that you are the winner.    However the Republican tent  has to be more welcoming to non-white conservatives.    They may like the Republican policy but don't know they are in the wrong party due to the misinformation,   the message is coming though to the country wrong.    Some of the message will never come though right due to the mainstream media,  but they can be overcome.

Do I think that the Republicans really need the exalted "moderates".    Not really,  if the surveys show that the majority of  the country is already conservative are right.    They just need to be gathered into the same party, and they would always win, all the demography would be in their favor.   How would I do it.   I don't have the answer for that.  The Democrats have rejected conservatives ideas  for the most part.    Are the Republican stupid enough to do it too?
