The bad news just keep coming in on the abortion debate. It seems that most of the hard won gains of pro-life groups over the last few years have been lost in a matter of a few weeks. In spite of many warning signs, Obama has been even further left on abortion then feared.
First up:
Obama Lifts Ban on Federal Funding for Embryo-Killing Research. In spite of becoming obsolete as a form of research by most scientists, Obama has ordered federal funding for Embryonic Research. In spite of the many ethical problems with it, a few loud mouthed "scientists" demanded federal money. Note that embryo research was never banned during the Bush years (never noted by the "mainstream" media, they made it sound like Bush personally ordered it banned) just prevented from receiving federal money.
Second: Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) plans on introducing the so called
"Freedom of Choice Act" (FOCA) soon. This misguided law will overturn most state laws relegating and restricting abortion. Its clearly unconstitutional, but Obama wants to sign it anyway to please the anti-life groups that supported his presidential bid.
Third: In international abortion news,
Australia overturned its ban on international abortion aid. Anti-Life forces pointed to Obama's ending of the Reagan Era Mexico CIty Policy banning U.S. aid to providers of abortion. I guess Australia's left wing will jump off a cliff too if Obama tells them too. This was not the time to follow our lead. All countries that provide international aid are now controlled by anti-life, far left liberals. I was hoping Australia was enlightened enough to remain as the only country with a pro-life aid program. Pity.
Hoping for Real Change!
