I was in a for a surprise today when I loaded the main page of
Townhall.com this afternoon. One of the top stories is the:
Obama Declares Plan To Halve Deficit In Four Years.
Thankfully I wasn't drinking something or my Power Mac would have gotten wet. After spending nearly 1 trillion dollars we don't have, Obama thinks he will lend his magic to the budget deficit.
Halving the Deficit is a worthy goal. I just don't know how he thinks that would happen.
OK, I do know how he would try, but that will not work either. Like most of his "plans" they are short on details.
Ronald Reagan really wanted to lower the deficit unlike most politicians who really don't care about this time bomb. He sure didn't get very far. I don't think Obama could ever do the massive cutting that would be the only way the deficit would be reduced.
So why bring it up? I don't know. Just some spin, I would think. With the recent spending, there is no chance that the deficit could be reduced.
So this is not a serious proposal. Not one bit.
Pity.
