Watch out Al Gore is mouthing off again. As you can see he didn't read my post yesterday about niche energy sources. Niche energy sources are fine in my book, but they are what they are, niche sources.
Niche sources like solar, wind and ethanol are never going to replace oil. They just can't. They can contribute in small ways but they will never produce more then a few percent of the power used in America. They cannot supply the huge amounts needed daily by Americans at economical costs that oil can do. Multiple source of energy will probably never be as affordable as oil.
But Al Gore knows better! He thinks that the US could be using solar and wind ("earth-friendly") for all of the power in the next ten years. What is he nuts? If we only have that kind of power how is he going to keep the lights on at his mansion? Energy use at his home in Tennessee has gone up since he was criticized last year for using 20 times the power of an average house in Tennessee.

here. Al Gore is a moron in my book. He has no common sense at all. Energy companies have billions and billions invested in equipment that will be in use far longer then ten years from now. He would want them to dump perfectly good stuff for his utopia. Energy is a commodity business, people are looking at price for the most part. The energy business isn't the fashion business, where people are willing to pay a high price for something unique. Energy is energy and the vast majority are not able to, or willing to pay a premium for gasoline or electric.
Private business supplies energy to Americans not the government. Al Gore get out of their way and let them do their jobs, which is supplying affordable energy to Americans! They can do it!
Sorry Al, comparing the space race to this is really stupid too.
