A little of this, a little of that.

All right, the blog is working again,  thanks to the techs at Townhall.

A little catch all for today.

I was going to write the other day about Jimmy Carter calling the Bush adminstration the worst one in history.   Well I guess Carter would know about failed presidencies more then anybody (outside of former prez Clinton).   Of course history (well fifty plus years from now, not the historians of today) will mostly likely say that Bush II was one of the better ones (Even better then his own dad's).    We already know how history will see Carter's.   The White House actually had a good rebuttal for this one,  but this rip was easy to bounce back at Carter.

In Indiana,  a Democrat has actually proposed that we not collect the states part of the sales tax on gasoline, while prices are high.    After  my fainting spell (that a democrat would propose lowering taxes)  was over  I read the article in the NW Indiana Times.    As my regular readers know,  gas taxes are one of my pet peezes.     The "mainstream" media never reports on the very high gas taxes that we pay today.    They spend all their time ripping on the oil giants,  never mind the government is cashing in way more the oil companies.  Most folk just take it (the taxes that is),   saying that we could be paying the even higher taxes that Europeans pay on gas.    The way things are going,   we will be paying what Europeans pay for gas taxes.

I wish Governor Daniels was for not collecting the tax but  he really isn't into this proposal.   Its too bad, this one should be done, if a Republican had proposed it he would be easier to go for it.   But I imagine he doesn't listen to Democrats very often since they talk mostly nonsense these days.  Daniels is disliked by Democrats here in Indiana almost as much as they hate Bush so it isn't surprising.   UPDATE  I just noticed that the online version of the article has been updated.   That person is going to run against Daniels,   go figure.

Michael Medved has a great article today about the wording that the media uses to write articles,  in newscasts etc.    I wrote about this very subject last year so  read on to see that.   He of course explains it better then I did,  so if that post was confusing to you this is a good way to see what I meant by it.
