Boy this makes my blood boil! Student "leaders" at Orange Coast College in California banned the saying of the Pledge of Allegiance at their meetings. Read about it
here. How arrogant can people be! One said "Loyalty ought to be something the
government earns through performance, not through reciting a
pledge,". YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING!
This is a public community college! They have no problem taking taxpayers money! They would get up in arms if they got that cut off. Public Universities are so stupid to bite the arm that feeds them! If they want to say that (they do have that right) , as taxpayers we have the right not to be funding them. It is a two way street people!
Higher education is a good thing, but boy it is in need of some serious attitude changes. Why do they need to have public money? Universities want independence without the responsibility. They talk the talk but do not walk the walk. And this community college is in ORANGE COUNTY one of few conservative areas of California. Community college suffer from people thinking the student there are stupid, this type of thing doesn't help them change that image either.
